Social Justice

Social Justice

Every person is created in God’s image and should be treated with equal dignity and respect. We recognise that in our society many experience disadvantage and exclusion. Through our affiliation to Inclusive Church, we affirm a theological imperative to work for justice and inclusion for all. The PCC has made a statement about Racial Justice and Inclusion, and offers some Questions and Answers around this issue. This statement will contribute to a broader Social Justice statement, as part of a new Mission Action Plan (currently being written). We are already committed to working with our sister organisation 4All, the local Foodbank, the Robes nightshelter project, L’Arche, Citizens UK, and Christian Aid. The Coronavirus pandemic has starkly revealed inequalities of all kinds in our society.

Outward in Community

The Incarnation of Christ shows us how much God loves the human family. At All Saints we aim to live out God’s deep love for the planet, and for all who are disadvantaged, excluded and marginalised. We try to reflect this in our daily lives and though involvement with justice activities and projects.

The Robes Homeless Project

The Robes Homeless Project has operated overnight shelters and we have supported this mostly through cooking suppers. The charity is currently looking at its options for how they might provide support to its guests safely during the coming winter.

Citizens UK

Lambeth Citizens UK has met by Zoom over the last few months. They have been particularly concerned about the digital divide, racial injustice, mental health issues and the need to support people with no recourse to public funds (NRPF).

Norwood and Brixton Foodbank

The Foodbank has closed its distribution centres and become a delivery service from its warehouse in Streatham. For more information on how to help the food bank please click here.

4all

4all aims to improve the lives of local people in our parish area by running community projects. For more information please click here.

Christian Aid

Christian Aid work with local partners and communities to fight injustice, respond to humanitarian emergencies, campaign for change, and help people claim the services and rights they are entitled to across the world.
