Funeral Service Options

Many funerals are simple services, lasting about 30 minutes. They may take place at a church, cemetery, or crematorium.

If you are an actively communicant member of the church, the funeral may be in the context of the Eucharist (a Requiem).

The priest will flag up further issues to think about. For instance, you may

  • involve family and friends in the service, by singing, reading, or giving tributes or eulogies
  • choose bible readings, or other readings
  • choose hymns and other music items
  • include your own prayers.

If you wish, the clergy will lead prayers at your home, or at a mortuary or chapel of rest; and the coffin may be brought into church on the evening before the funeral.

At a subsequent date, you may wish to have a memorial service. We would be happy to discuss this with you.
